Matrix Audio Qube2 – iF Product Design Award

You don’t have to be big to win an international design award, and Toronto’s Matrix Audio, with its pocket-size Qube2 Bluetooth speaker has made the point. We helped Matrix with the design and development of what must surely be the smallest stereo speaker around. No claims for big soundstage or thumping bass, but as a clean-sounding, eye-catching design, Qube2 has found a niche that’s producing excellent revenue for this young company.

CES 2014 – Piper Innovations Honoree

Piper, the first product from the Ottawa-based startup Blacksumac, is a 2014 CES Innovations Honoree! Piper is a home monitoring device, able to watch and sense the activities that go on in your home while you are away. Piper will send a message to your smartphone if anything abnormal happens, and can give you a peek inside your place, anytime you want. With a focus on apartments, condos, vacation properties and small business offices, Piper will be keeping many of us safe in 2014.

CES 2014 – Mythos ST-L Innovations Honoree

For an unprecedented fourth time, a speaker in the Mythos ST Series has won a CES Innovations award.  The 2014 award has been given to the Mythos ST-L, Definitive Technology’s flagship product.  We worked with Definitive’s marketing and engineering teams to refine and update all external product features, including drivers, user interfaces, surface detailing, base design, and leveling mechanisms.

CES 2013 – Solocinema XTR Innovations Award!

For the 7th consecutive year, our work has been honoured at CES! SoloCinema XTR® delivers High-Definition home theater surround audio in a two-component package – powered soundbar and wireless subwoofer. We were responsible for not only the industrial design and early stage mechanical development of all components including a custom Remote, but also the creation of all marketing collateral. Point-of-purchase box, promotional graphics, and Quick Start Guide. Congrats to all involved!

CEDIA 2011 – Wi3 WiPNET Earns 3 Awards

When our long-time client Bill Thompson launched his new company, Wi3 Inc. in 2008, he came to us for the ID and mechanical development of WiPNET.    A game-changing digital networking product that delivers both Ethernet and CATV over existing coax cables, WiPNET will revolutionize media delivery in home and commercial environments. Scott Gales led this project for us – and well deserves the rave reviews for this technically complex yet visually elegant design.

Las Vegas CES 2011 – Another Innovations Award

A fortuitous introduction from a colleague has led to a new client for us, and a home run first time at bat.  PowerTrip, an eco-friendly portable charger for PDAs, iPods, etc., by Ottawa’s Ecosol Solar Technologies, has won a CES 2011 Innovations Award. Kudos for our Colin Roberts’ industrial design work!

Las Vegas CES 2010 – Best of Innovations

For the second year running, our client, Definitive Technology, has been honored in the High Performance Audio category at CES Las Vegas.  The Mythos XTR-50 is a slim on-wall speaker intended for today’s ultra thin LED-TVs.
